Spoken answers inside your Nfield CAWI survey.
Add a browser recorder to a question template, and respondents answer out loud on whatever device they already have. The recording name stores with the interview data, the media stays in your own storage.
Built for fieldwork volumes
The recording never passes through the survey platform, so a study with thousands of completes does not turn into a data transfer problem.
Residency you can put in the proposal
Processing and storage can be pinned to the EU, with delivery into a client-owned bucket in a named country. See infrastructure.
No app for the panel
Respondents record in the browser they opened the invitation in, which keeps the completion rate close to a text open-end.
What agencies use it for.
Voice open-ends at scale
A spoken answer where a typed one would have been two words, across a full national sample.
Stimulus reaction
Record the response to an ad or a pack design while the respondent is still looking at it.
Client-owned deliverables
Recordings delivered straight into the client's own bucket, which is often a condition of the contract.
Details.
Which Nfield mode does this work with?
CAWI, the web interviewing mode, where the questionnaire renders in a browser and you can add custom HTML and JavaScript to a question template.
How is the recording linked to the interview?
Through an open text variable that you hide. The script writes the recording name into it from the recorder's onSaveOk event, and it exports with the rest of the interview data.
Does the media go into the Nfield dataset?
No. The dataset holds a recording name. The media lives in AddPipe and can be pushed to your own bucket, which keeps the dataset small and the files under your control.
Does it work on the devices our panel uses?
Yes. The recorder runs in desktop and mobile browsers, including mobile Safari, with no app to install.
Can we keep recordings inside the EU?
Yes. Processing and storage can be pinned to the EU, and recordings pushed to a bucket in the country your client requires.
What happens if a respondent's connection drops mid-recording?
The recording client handles reconnection during upload. If the recording never completes, the hidden variable stays empty, so you can route on that and ask again.
Put a voice open-end in your next wave.
Every recorder and storage destination is open during the 14-day trial. No card required.
